Job Opportunities at KBC TOOLS
KBC offers excellent opportunities, competitive wages and benefits, good educational prospects and a friendly, cooperative atmosphere. An upbeat, family-run firm, KBC is one of the leading catalog cutting tool houses in North America. We've been in business since 1965, and now have branches throughout the U.S.A. and Canada. KBC is a great place to work if you're looking for a casual, professional environment where your skills are emphasized, not your wardrobe. Everyone is given an opportunity to shine at KBC. There's always lots of room inside and outside of the job description to show your initiative.
KBC inspires strong employee loyalty — some team members have been with the firm since our inception. While KBC is now 165 team members strong, and has retained the personal, small-firm atmosphere of its roots. Each branch holds two family social events yearly. At the Canadian company headquarters in Mississauga, Pepper, a mini-Schnauzer and the company mascot, can always be found padding about, hoping for a pat or a treat.
Because we have a diversity of openings in both full and part-time positions, we welcome people from all walks of life: students, homemakers, people with disabilities, senior citizens and so on. Knowledge of cutting tools and machinery is always an advantage! Above all, we look for enthusiasm and a positive, can-do attitude from our team members.
Can you match your skills and enthusiasm to one of the following areas of opportunity at KBC?
Deal with customers ranging from two-man machine shops to major multinationals. Your knowledge of metalworking tooling and machinery, combined with your persistence, follow-up abilities and closing talents make all the difference to the bottom line.
Help walk-in customers with questions, requests, sales and pick-up orders. Your ever-growing product knowledge of tools and machinery, courtesy, friendliness, and positive attitude are critical in this role. To the customers, you are the face of KBC.
Do you have a specific area of tooling expertise, such as carbides, abrasives, or work holding fixtures. Bring that expertise to KBC and use it to interact with clients and inside sales personnel to help improve customer service and close critical orders.
Can you demonstrate a strong familiarity with lathes, surface grinders, saws, drill presses and other metal-cutting machinery? Are you comfortable with multiple client levels, ranging from machinist to executive? Do you know how to close the big deals? You'll put all these skills to work as a machinery specialist as KBC.
You will upgrade and repair machinery and install digital read-outs and power feeds. Your job is to ensure that KBC machinery will run perfectly upon delivery to the customer.
You will work with lathes, mills drill presses, surface grinders and other metalworking machines, adapting them to 3-phase 575 volts and upgrading their electrical components to Canadian standards. An in-depth knowledge of motors, relays, overloads and machinery is a must for this position.
KBC produces a 1000+ page master catalog, 8-12 multi-page flyers and numerous other marketing materials every year. Use your attention to detail, marketing flair, previous catalog experience, production speed, and familiarity with Photoshop and QuarkXpress to help keep KBC going and growing, one catalog at a time.
You know your tools. You're experienced and comfortable dealing with national and international suppliers, letters of credit, and co-op advertising. You're a strong negotiator and are skilled at competitive and market analysis. You're well versed in inventory and surplus management. You've even got a bit of Sherlock Holmes in you; you're a shrewd investigator who knows how to ask the right questions. Put your talents to work at KBC, purchasing metalworking machinery and tools from suppliers around the world.
An expert in distribution center logistics and an accomplished team-builder, you'll get the warehouse working to peak efficiency in storage, shipping and receiving. You'll use barcoding, computerization, and other tools to continually improve customer service and workplace safety.
Keep the internal machinery of KBC humming! Efficient and effective administrative work keeps customers happy and sales high!
This is where the rubber hits the road, getting the correct order to the customer. Accuracy and devotion to detail are important in this role. This is a great place to learn about the KBC product line and client base.
Each branch is judged on its own merits at KBC. Branch managers are encouraged to use their initiative to increase sales, team-member growth, customer satisfaction and loyalty, and KBC's market share.
Get the money in! Active work in accounts receivable helps bring in the dollars and get clients off the "hold" list so they can order again. A diplomatic, friendly, yet persistent approach is invaluable in this position.
Match up invoices to orders and ensure we pay only for what we order and receive. This is a "keep everything shipshape" position - your orientation towards detail and strong clerical skills will equip you well for the job.
Send in your resume with a cover letter to your nearest KBC branch. Please be sure to indicate if you speak a second language (French is helpful in Canada, Spanish in the United States). If your skills match our needs, we'll do our best to embark on an honest relationship where you know from the beginning who we are and what we expect. KBC's been growing and thriving for thirty-five years in North America. Come join the KBC team and grow with us!
